HOW'D I LIVE WITHOUT: Beauty

Around when I really started to care about my face routine, I also started to care more about my makeup routine. I'm by no means a makeup expert, but these are my tried and true beginner (and mostly drugstore) makeup buys that I can't live without!

Translucent Powder // Translucent powder is my actual savior. I have a forehead on the larger side of the scale, and ever since I first started wearing makeup I've been desperately trying to find a way to make it less shiny. As my skin has cleared up/gotten less oily on its own, the shine has also gotten better on its own, but nothing works better than translucent powder! I put this all over my t-zone and some under my eyes to reduce shine and hold my makeup in place. If I'm really being fancy, I'll also use some to set my "contour."

Highlighter // Highlighter is my favorite for no-makeup-makeup looks. When I don't feel like doing a full on "contour," I still love being able to use highlighter to add a little but of dimension to my face. (Especially when translucent powder can make it really flat looking.) I apply this highlighter with my finger to my nose, under my eyebrows, and the outside corner of my cheekbones.

Beauty Blender // DUH. A classic. I didn't use a beauty blender until about a year and a half ago, and even then I didn't use it correctly. I had no idea that you were supposed to get it wet before applying your makeup, hah! Now I'm obsessed and use it every day.

Eyebrow Pencil // Real talk, I can't believe there used to be a time when I left my house without filling in my eyebrows. These days, even if I'm going really simple with no foundation/concealer/eyeshadow/etc, I will still fill in my eyebrows. I really feel naked without them filled in! I've tried a few brow sticks, but I love that this one is A) less expensive but works just as well, and B) has both a pencil end and a sponge end for blending.

Bronzer // Bronzer!!! I am naturally very pale, so adding bronzer to my routine was a no brainer. I'm really surprised it took me until I was 21 to use it! I immediately feel more alive when I'm wearing it. A light brushing of bronzer and filling in my eyebrows are two things that I almost always wear when I leave the house.

What beauty products can you not live without? Any that I should add to my routine?

  1. I'm the same as you about filling in my brows! Even if I have no other makeup on (not even concealer or mascara) my brows still MUST be filled in lol!

  13. I literally cannot live without mascara. Nowadays are not wearing as much makeup as I used to, so I'm skipping foundation, highlighter, and even eye-liner sometimes, but can't go out without mascara.
