February Goals

I'm so glad January is finally over! Is it just me or did the month seriously drag on? I was looking at my calendar last week and could not believe we still had over a week left in the month! I don't remember January ever feeling so long.

Perhaps it's because this is my first ever real winter, or the fact that we had some really dreary, cold and windy days this year, but now that the sun is shining and it's not totally dark when I leave the gym at 6 p.m., I honestly feel like a new person.

It's been a while since I set monthly goals, and it's a habit I'm excited to start back up! Here we gooooo.

Side note: I impulsively ordered a milk frother from Target a couple of weeks ago and I finally got batteries for it on Sunday! I've been loving the homemade lattes in the morning, though I am struggling on the coffee-to-milk ratio. Practice definitely makes perfect!

Drink more water on the weekends // I drink a lot of water during the weekdays (usually between 72-96 oz, which is 3 750ml camelbacks and a couple of glasses later), but I've been struggling really hard on the weekends. Most of the time I don't get above 60, which is my goal. I haven't been filling up my camelback very much and I think that's part of my problem. I'd like to drink a consistent amount of water all 7 days.

Stop laying in bed instead of getting up // I never used to do this. I gave myself 5-7ish minutes to lay in bed before getting up, but recently it's turned into 15-30 (lol). It hasn't made me rushed/late for work because I set my alarm with an extra 30 minutes to watch the news in the morning, but it has meant I've been going into work with less makeup, unbrushed hair, etc. And I know I could just not watch the news, but that's something I enjoy and am not willing to give up right now. I'm thinking about using an alarm clock and putting my phone across the room, but TBD if that works.

Avoid personal spending // I had an unexpectedly expensive January. I'm trying to get my budget back on track by limiting my personal spending in February. This means I'm not going to eat out excessively at restaurants (I feel like I'm still at a place in making friends where I need to say yes to outings like this), no money on clothes (this will be the tough one!), and no money on unnecessary cosmetics.

Practice with my camera/tripod every weekend // I've been starting to do this already but I want to write it down to remember to do it consistently! My problem is I feel really silly doing this, even when I'm alone in my apartment, ha! I think with time that will go away.

I just started another book that keeps me on track for my 2018 goals! Read my review of my "January book" here.

What are your goals for this month?

  1. Hi, Tori! I felt the same way about January being so long! My husband and I just had the same conversation the other night. Anyway, I know this seems weird, but I love your February goals, especially aiming to drink more water on weekends! I just realized that I don't drink a lot of water on weekends, too, so I need to be more aware of that. Same with laying in bed instead of getting up. I have an advantage of working from home, and when I woke up sluggish, I usually end up working remotely instead of being physically at work. It's one of the things I'm trying to work on this year, too! And oh, my gosh—don't even get me started with how much I've spent last month. I'm actually planning on a spend freeze this month!

    1. I would love to work from home! My job starts at 8am and I even think that with an 8:30 or 9am start I would be able to get out of bed much easier!

  2. I only give myself 5 minutes to lay in bed in the morning, or else I would be the same way! I think it's a really good idea to do practice with your camera and tripod. Photography is something I want to get better at, so practicing it every week is a great idea!

    1. I'm thinking I might have to set an alarm in the bathroom for 5 minutes after my FitBit alarm goes off!

  3. i think sometimes when it comes to finances we need a few slip ups to teach us how to be careful :) it's better to learn it now than never! :)

    1. So true! These were mostly mechanical issues which was unfortunate, but because of previous lessons like this I had enough in my savings to cover it.

  4. I actually felt like January went by pretty quickly lol but I seem to be the only one! These are all great goals! I'm really bad about drinking water on the weekends too. I think my weekdays have such a routine but my weekends are more flexible so it throws me off!

    1. This is my problem too! I have a water routine during the week and I just need to make a new one for the weekends too.

  5. Girl, you and I are so similar haha. I drink a lot of water while I'm al work, but one weekends.. I'd be lucky to drink 1 glass over the two days. I also lay in bed far longer than I should before getting up haha. Definitely good habits to get out of. I wish you the best in achieving what you want in February! :) x

  6. I like your goals. Very doable and I believe that goals should be obtainable. Good luck!

  7. YES to getting up instead of laying in bed. I'm going to aim to do the same, because right now I am sooooooooo guilty of spending like an hour in bed!

  8. Reading other people's goals always motivates me. Good luck with all of your goals in February! I'm hoping to workout consistently, stay on top of my school work and buy coffee at coffee shops less often.

  9. so i suck at goals because i never stick to them lol! but i love the whole drinking more water thing. i have a big water bottle and i aim to drink at least two of those a day. also OMG yes to getting up right away when you wake up! i just sit in bed and play on my phone until my kids are like "please feed me. i'm hungry" then we're rushing the rest of the day cuz i didn't get up right away lol

  10. Time and practice will overcome your tripod challenges. It is definitely awkward haha but you'll learn what angles and poses look the best. Plus you gotta do what you gotta do when you don't have a professional photographer.

  11. I have SUCH a bad habit of going to bed late! But I actually made drinking more water one of my goals too around mid-january! I'm using my water bottle more so I guess it is working!

  13. I'm also planning to cut back on personal spending this month-- I spent way too much in December and January. PS- I am a total milk frother fan-- although I broke mine several months ago and need to get a new one, good to know Target has them!
