The Ultimate Staycation

Staycations are great because they're the perfect, low-budget alternative to going on an actual vacation. I love taking time off from the "real world" and focusing on myself for a little bit. Even by not going anywhere just unplugging I feel so much better and more energized. Here's how to have the best staycation ever:

Sleep in // This is one of my biggest issues. Even on days when I have nothing on the calendar, I still find myself walking up around 8:00 or 8:30. Don't get me wrong, I love getting up earlier and having time for breakfast and lunch and dinner, but I also love sleep and never get as much as I should! Having a comfortable bed is definitely key to this step. I've recently found myself eying new bedding and I love Crane and Canopy's options. They're great because they're affordable, but still made from quality material.

Unplug for a bit // Unplugging is hard in general, but I find it incredibly hard on a staycation. But even just turing your phone on "do not disturb" for a while and going on a walk is a great way to clear your head. Or even choosing to read a book instead of watching Netflix makes a large difference in my mood. Something about natural light and not staring at a screen all day.

Treat Yo'self // I started my latest staycation with a giant cinnamon roll (from the Cinnamon Roll Deli I mentioned on Saturday!) and ended it with a pizza from Papa John's. I'm usually pretty strict about my diet and what I eat, but hey! I was on vacation! Calories don't count when you're on vacation, everybody knows that!

Pamper // Use this time to pamper yourself in ways you don't usually get to. For me, this is a 30 minute long shower where I actually shave my legs. Usually I take a short 10-15 minute long shower (15 minutes is on the longer side for me) so the extra time in the shower is really nice. I also take this time to actually paint my nails, as opposed to just touching them up with the same color I'm already wearing.

Snuggle up in bed // And then, after a long day of doing nothing and treating yourself, snuggle up in bed with a book and a glass of wine. (Or drink of your choice.) Once again, I find myself admiring Crane and Canopy. A clean and fluffy duvet goes a long way in my book! Anything that I can comfortably curl up in with my book is the way to go. I love this set in particular:

It reminds me of an actual beachside resort hotel! I love the reversible sides, too. White duvets make me pretty nervous so this blue pattern is the perfect compromise.

I had a great time relaxing this weekend and treating myself to a mini stay-cation. What do you do on your staycation?

    1. Yes definitely! If you're over the pampering, playing a tourist in your own town is another great thing to do!
